Hello, and welcome
Thank you for visiting. My name is Dr. Paul Embleton, and Paul Embleton, PsyD, PLLC is my private practice. My office is in Downtown Littleton at the Curtice Center, an office building for mental health professionals. I provide comprehensive psychological evaluations to children and adolescents age 5 through 21. This includes testing for common neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia, as well as testing for the large majority of psychological disorders affecting children.
Solving your child's social, emotional, or academic problems can be difficult. I believe the problem-solving process should begin with a comprehensive evaluation, because it provides the answers and guidance you and your family need in order to access the proper treatment. I have confidence that engaging in the evaluation process at my practice will give you the information you need to make informed decisions. I know that you will find my work professional, timely, detailed, and high quality. You can read more about me and my qualifications in the FAQ section of this website.
Services
Psychological Evaluations
I offer comprehensive psychological evaluations for clients age 5 through 21. The types of tests and methods I use depend on the referral question. All evaluations include an intake session, a full day's worth of testing, a feedback session, and a comprehensive written report. Common evaluations include:
- Intelligence (IQ) testing
- Learning disability or Dyslexia testing
- Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) testing
- Autism Spectrum Disorder testing
- Speech / Language Disorder testing
- Mood or Anxiety Disorder testing
- Intellectual Disability testing
- Personality or strengths-based profiling
Consultation
I also offer hourly consultation to clients struggling with the effects of a disability, especially when they affect a child's ability to be successful at school or in the community. Consultation often takes the form of:
- Advocacy during special education meetings
- Recommendations on the development of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Section 504 plan
- Guidance on treatment (therapy methods, medications, etc.)
- Brief, solution-focused therapy for families
- Psychoeducation for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities
Cost
My goal is to offer high-quality services at a fair price. The cost of my services reflects the cost of doing business, the value of the service, and the availability of comparable services.
- The cost of a comprehensive evaluation is $1,750
- The cost of an hour of consultation is $150
I accept Colorado Medicaid for therapy clients only; evaluations and consultation are private pay. Cash or personal check are the accepted forms of payment at this time. For comprehensive evaluations, half of the total cost is due at the intake session and half is due at the feedback session.
Contact
Please feel free to call, text, or email my office at any time. Given the nature of my work, I may not be able to answer the phone right away. I am happy to offer 15 minutes of free consultation to prospective clients.

Frequently Asked Questions
I began working with children and adolescents more than 13 years ago as a classroom teacher, after earning a BA in Education from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. I taught English and math at the secondary level in public, charter, and private schools. Working with children who had special needs sparked my interest in psychology, so I pursued a doctorate at the University of Colorado, where I trained in a variety of practice settings including schools and clinics. I earned an MA in School Psychology and then a Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) from CU.
I am licensed by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a Licensed Psychologist (license #PSY.0006746) and by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) as a School Psychologist (license #24382855). I am also a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP, certification #64304) and hold an active secondary-education teaching license from CDE (license #194575). You are welcome to view my LinkedIn profile or request a copy of my current resume, which I will happily send to you. Details about my work and experience can be found in my disclosure statement and client policies.
Every evaluation is unique, but they all begin with a comprehensive intake interview where I learn as much as possible from you and your family about the presenting concern. Intake interviews are usually one to two hours long, with the option of an in-person or virtual format. Next, I plan and prepare a battery of assessments to administer to the client (such as achievement or intelligence tests), the client's caregivers (rating scales or questionnaires), and potentially the client's teachers or extended family members. Then we schedule a testing session, which could last anywhere from three to six hours (with breaks, of course). After I administer the assessments, I score, interpret, and report the results in a written report and presentation. We then hold a feedback session where I share the results, review recommendations, provide educational resources, answer questions, and potentially provide referrals. Feedback sessions last between one and two hours and can be in-person or virtual. You will leave with a comprehensive written report and reading materials.

If a client's ability to take part in standardized assessments is significantly impaired by the symptoms of their disability, then the type of testing I provide should produce evidence that accommodations or modifications are necessary. However, whether or not the College Board or other governing organization approves the recommended accommodations is completely up to them and depends on the strength of the documentation you provide.
I have a few policies that you will need to agree to as a part of my work with you and your family. I will ask you to sign these policies during our first meeting.
- Payment, fees, and cancellation policy.
- Disclosures, informed consent, and permission to test.
I was born and raised here in Colorado. I grew up in the mountains and spent a lot of time hiking, skiing, and biking. These days I live in Littleton with my wife and three children. I work part time as a school psychologist for the Northwestern Colorado BOCES. I also do contract software development work for other psychologists and helping professionals. I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, playing musical instruments, playing video games, and improving my professional skills. Thanks for reading!
